Heading home..... for now

The final day is done, it's time to head home. It's funny, in a few weeks, I'll be saying the same thing but going the other direction.

Yesterday night was the most glorious sleep of my trip so far. I probably actually slept better the first couple nights, but getting to sleep for several hours at a time (6 last night!) was awesome.

On the way out, there were very few casualties among our stuff. A few squished boxes, a broken tote lid, and sadly the only broom packed. If you've never rented a U-Haul before, they require you to sweep out the back of the truck or else pay $25 for them to do it.

So I filled up the tank (zomg it's expensive) and brought it back. After checking out the mileage and condition of the outside, I told the rep that I needed to sweep it still. He popped open the back and saw that there wasn't much to sweep, just some light dirt and such.

I showed him the broken broom and asked if I could borrow one so I could still sweep it out, and he offered to take the broom head and call it even. 😲 You take my trash AND save me $25? Heck yeah!

I finished out today with a short walk to Cracker Barrel. I had a stupid big cheeseburger and some fries. Solid food! Everything's packed, and I'll be heading to the airport tomorrow morning.

Thanks for following along with my stories. I love writing these, and hope they entertain and amuse.

Happy holidays to everyone!
